I have this big aerial telephoto lens that has a huge iris right behind the objective, and I've been wondering whether anything like this has ever been created for use in binoculars- perhaps something lightweight that could be added to the tube exteriors to continuously vary aperture (similar maybe to ones with plastic blades found with microscope condensers, but bigger). The idea just came together after thinking about telescope aperture masks just before looking at pics of those WWII Barr & Stroud binos with the iris-based dew/glare shields. Click! Thoughts?
