Hello -

I am looking for folks in the Corvallis / Albany area of Oregon that want to observe from a dark site.

Our local astronomy club has held star parties in our local dark site ( a city park)

- where I was the only one attending. Not good. Not sure why our members are not enthusiastic.

So I am posting here to see if there are any folks in my local area that might want to

seek out and observe from dark sites.

I have found a few fairly good spots, but would rather not go alone.

Send me a message if you are interested.

No worry if you respond weeks or months after this is posted.

I should still be interested.

.

I hope you find some place and can get some company.  My wife and I are thinking of moving near Sweet Home in 2020

so maybe we can connect then.  PM me if you want to get qcquainted and plan some observing in the meantime.

We have several sites here in the Eugene area; you'd be welcome to join us. Some of our members travel from the Albany area to observe.

Closer by, you could try Mary's Peak or Cascadia State Park.

I would be interested, but I can't go very frequently. I drive out to Albany a lot because I haven't been able to catch the Corvallis group when they're out observing. I've tried a couple of times, but I've gotten clouds or no shows. Their monthly meetings are pretty interesting, though.

Downside? I'm a total newb, so the conversation wouldn't exactly be enlightening.

I'm busy this coming weekend, but after that I should have more free time to go somewhere.

I lived in Corvallis many years ago and would usually go to Touch of Nature for observing. But some areas can get kinda spooky out there all by yourself. Hope you find someone to observe with.
