I was reviewing my subs from last night and came across a few that looked like this:
The above file is a saved copy of how it looked when I opened it up in Pixinsight. The file below is the actual .NEF file, which weirdly looks completely fine when previewing it in Chrome, but goes stupid when I download and open it in any other program. I'm guessing it's using a blown up version of the preview thumbnail, which looks perfectly fine.
This happened to 10 out of 54 subs; 7 in a row, but 3 others sporadically throughout the night. I'm thinking USB issue maybe? The chain goes:
Intel NUC (Inside battery box) > Weatherproof extension cable (3ft) > External cable to mount (6ft) > CEM60 input > CEM60 output (3ft?) > D5300 (3ft)
I've been using this with no problems such as this for months, so I'm reluctant to blame it solely on USB daisychaining. Only change I made last night was switching from an Orion SSAG to a ASI290mm mini guidescope. Maybe the files are larger and bottlenecking USB downloads?
Any and all thoughts appreciated!
