I recently bought a used Takahashi EM-200 Temma 2 for a great price. I sold my iEQ45 Pro (definitely a nice mount, but the EM-200 is a big step up) and now I am trying to get my new mount ready for imaging.

Not as simple as I thought. I am looking for a "mentor", preferably in the Los Angeles area, who can help me out. Meeting in person would be fantastic, if possible. I am using PHD2 and I downloaded Chuck Faranda's ASCOM driver. My goal is to be pulse guiding, which supposedly will give me best guiding results. I also downloaded the new NINA software, which is free and more user friendly than SGP.

Thanks!

Martin

Hi Martin,

Please let me apologize now as this reply to your thread is not going to be of any use.  I simply checking in because I too have a chance to pick up a used EM-200 and I am curious what your "great price" was.  If I decide to buy it maybe we can learn some things together.

Thanks,

Bill

I’m not in LA, but I did image with a Temma + SGP in the past.  Things worked cleanly, usually.  There were odd issues with returning to home position.  What things do you want to know about ?

My concern with Temma is that Chuck’s driver is almost obsolete.  Tak has not updated its ports for many years and this is a major issue.

Hello Martin,

Did you ever get your "mentor"?  I still use the EM200 with Chuck Faranda's ASCOM driver and PHD2.  I use APT, not NINA.

Were there any specific problems that you encountered?

Clem
