HI All,

Trying to get a Polemaster up and running.  Software & driver seems to install ok.  When I start the app, I immediately get an error splash screen that says the program can't start because some log file is in use.  Click OK and it just crashes out.  Any one seen this before?  Running Driver 150915 and app v1.3.2.8.  Getting 404 errors (can't there from here) when trying to visit the QHYCCD website.  That is a bit unnerving....

Any insights out there would be appreciated...I can't be the only victim.

Not polemaster related but have you tried restarting your computer? Files being in use sounds like maybe the installer didn’t exit properly and the “log” file is still in use by it? Wild guess here but could be an easy fix.

QHY posted on Facebook earlier today that there was problems with their English web site due to server problems.

I did try the reboot...no joy.  I am almost never that lucky smile.gif.  Running a Dell E6430, i5 core on Win 10.  Roger that on the website issue.  I hoped it was something like that.  What is the latest version of the polemaster app & driver?

The log file the program is complaining about is one it apparently creates.

FWIW - I am running the same SW - Driver 150915 and App v1.3.2.8 on Win 7 Pro x64.

What's the log file name?

The logfiles that get created get placed in the documents folder in folders organized by date.  Example:   \documents\logs 2019-09-14\PoleMaster.18.40.25.669.  File can be opened in Notepad but there is not much in there.

What's the Win10 build number?

EDIT - When the QHY site comes back on-line post the problem on their Forum page.  Provide all the details....

  • Complete summary of the problem.
  • QHY SW that's been installed along with version numbers.
  • Log file location and contents.
  • Win10 OS build number.
  • ...etc

Three more things.  1.) Try another USB cable. 2.) Put your laptop in Full Power Mode.  3.) Make sure you turn off Power Management on the USB ports.

If the PoleMaster is relatively new return it and ask for a replacement or refund.  Tell them its DOA.

I guess it’s possible it’s a hardware issue but it seems like it is what it says, it needs access to a file that is in use by something else, a weird software glitch.

Are there older revision driver or software versions available?

My Bad... sorry.   I forgot about the "Need access to file" problem above.  I checked and the QHY website up but its very slow.  The PoleMaster's do have issues running on Win10.  IMHO I think the problem is related to several areas.  USB Ports going into Power Saving sleep mode, the frequency of the CPU changing to conserve power, issues around DirectX 12 and/or SW Admin rights.

I think there's only one release of the Device Driver but I know of 2 plus releases of the PoleMaster app.  I tested an old release and it was buggy.  One more thing to try.  Uninstall the SW and reinstall as Administrator to see what happens.  Also try running the PoleMaster app as Administrator.

I would try to find somebody with a Win7 PC and install the SW and try to connect to the PoleMaster.

EDIT - the website is down again - 12:15PM MST.  Only the home page is working.

Are you logged on as administrator ?

You may want to compare whatever you see in the log file to the following example. That would tell you the step it reached before crashing:

I would install it on another machine. When was the last time it worked. Check for a Windows System Restore point close to that date.
