"It is with heavy Hearte that I regret to inform the Society that the new Triple Lens design fails to reveal the Wonderous Purple Sea in which the Wandering Stars of Jove bask daily."

I'm not surprised. In order to see the Wandering Stars of Jove surrounded by the Wondrous Purple Sea one must peer though a doublet refractor. One misses so much when severely limited by a triple lens objective. flowerred.gif

Yes indeed. I count myself as fortunate that my 4" f6 doublet allows for seeing the Purple Sea, although not as distinctly as I would like.

My 4" f9.8 is much more disappointing in this regard, the Sea being not prominent at all.

Have you tried F/3? If still insufficent perhaps a fast singlet lens would do. tongue2.gif

... conversely, those without suit(s) were quite happy with the magnificent tube.

We're only 15 posts in and I have no idea what the topic is any more, but I'm enjoying it.

How come those ads with people looking in the back end of a Newtonian are everywhere except when you need to post one in a thread ?
