Hi all, I'm looking to purchase a skyguider pro within a few weeks using my old canon 1000d. My photo tripods are flimsy and lightweight but i was wondering if my tripod from the nexstar 6se could work? Without having the skyguider yet I'm uncertain if it could work as I'm not familar with how everything fits together being so new to the hobby

The base of the skyguider comes with a 3/8" threaded hole with an adapter to 1/4".  See if your tripod has those threads.  If you need to buy a tripod, I can say that a Manfrotto has worked well for me with  a skyguider.

Regards,

Tom

I accept the argument that my solution is overkill, but I am pleased with my choice and my SGP sits rock solid.  I bought the mini-pier to minimize contact with the tripod and to keep me from crawling on the ground to do the PA.  As with everything else in life, you pays your money and takes your chances.  This and a couple of short refactors is my Grab-and-Go rig.  The big iron stays home.
