I did a quick, and not exhaustive, search in the old posts but didn't find an answer to this so here it goes:

I have a G11 with Digital Drive and stepper motors.  I have a GM-8 with Gemini I and servo motors.  Can I simply swap the kits?  I looked on Losmandy's website and I think the motors are interchangeable, I know Gemini is interchangeable, but I don't think the Digital Drive is interchangeable.  If I wanted to swap the kits, I'd have to buy a GM-8 Digital Drive PCB.  Correct?

I have also sent an e-mail to Losmandy asking the same question.  I'll post their reply here.  I posted here anyway because CN members are often faster to respond than manufacturers.

The Losmandy 492 digital drive system motors, cables and hand control for the G11 and GM8 are the same but the main drive board is different is my understanding.

Are the drive boards really different or isn't it the case that only the master clock needs to change on the main drive board between G8 & G11?

I am pretty sure the FW is different on the two boards.  Call Scott Monday and ask.

There is a chip on a 492 main board that is labeled 8 or 11 as appropriate.

That would be the firmware, easily swapped since it's on a socket.  That means the boards are the same.

The Gemini motors are the same for both mounts.  The difference would be in the mount gear ratios which should be fixed by changing the firmware.
