After last night's short observing session of the moon with my vintage Towa 339 80mm f15 refractor, I KNOW it's definitely a keeper for sure!! The snap to focus on this long achromat is just as good as the modern day apos I've had and I'm loving the generous depth of focus too!!!

Almost there.. ...the Finder is yet to be done.

I would prefer a 1.25 Baader Diagonal ( don't have any 1.25 Diagonals ) ...so the 2" Diagonal will have to do for now.

2 different Baader Adapters make up the conversion to 1.25 eyepieces............You need Baader part # 1508039 and Baader part # 2956214. That's it..... ( that's the way I did it anyway using Baader Components )

I like the color. What's the story behind the two part tubing?

I have no idea.  Bought it like this and the seller did not know either.

The tube is perfectly straight and the collimation is spot on,

Here it is at a Pubic event:

Very nice.

Took the Scope out last night ..... unfortunately I have lost too much ' in travel ' ( using the adapters and 2" Diagonal ), and I cannot get any eyepieces to focus ....so it's back to sourcing a .965 to 1.25 Diagonal

Looks like you removed the draw tube and lost that distance needed for focus.
About 5 to 5.5 inches will get it going fine. The extensions that come with some other scopes like the tasco 9vr and the early Mayflower branded A.P.L. will work.
With the plumbing you have you may be able to use something from those manufacturers.

Hello everyone

I own an Astro Royal R73, 76.2/1400 Fd18.4 restored in 2019

I added an Add-On option for the new year

The images are extremely sharp and the sharpness is magnificent, the contrast is striking on Jupiter

It is the best in quality of my entire collection

A rare glasses to find in France
