Hi i have owned the williams optics star71 mk1 scope from new and never been happy with the shape of the stars does it look like pinched optics and is it possible to cure it

You have pinched optics.  Is it under warranty?

 

The lens cell needs adjusting.

Can you get to the adjustment screws?

Hi thanks for the reply no its not under warranty no more,when you say the lens cell needs adjustment is that the one at the front of the scope that needs the ring loosening off slightly.

Need some more information.  What model is this?  Two element ED glass, 4 element, APO...?

 

Can the scope dew shield be removed?  If so remove it.  Are there screws on the side of the lens cell?  How many?  Can you post a picture?

It's the mark 1 version with 5 lenses,I will remove the shield and see how it's held together and let you know.

A Stop-Down Mask is a band-aid and not a fix.  For the images above one set of lens collimation screws are too tight.  Redfox needs to figure out which set.
