There used to be a separate topic for Star Parties but I'mm not finding it.

There used to be a Star party held at Stokes State forest in NJ. Is that event being held anymore?

Thanks

Ken

Ken,

Underneath the Cloudy Nights logo, there’s a drop down menu called “Forums.”

Click that... Then click “Specialty Forums.” It’s close to the bottom of the list...

There, you can select “Astronomy Clubs and Star Parties.” It’s the 3rd one on the list..,

That’s where your post has been moved to... A quick glance shows not much information about the Stokes SP in that part of Cloudy Nights, but maybe someone local to NJ can help you out.

Kevin

Thanks Tim

I hope the NJ School of Conservation gets new funding. Stokes State Forest used to be a over night class trip for middle schoolers. I think I was in 7th-8th grade the first time I went there Oh so many years ago.

The Star Parties were located in the field in front of the bunk house. (in the foreground of the picture)  and for a small fee, we could sleep in the nice warm bunk house after a long night of imaging/observing.  Perhaps a star party will be scheduled in 2020! (we can hope, right?)

EDIT:: Wow! I just took a better look at the picture. That's my Meade 127ED on a LXD650 mount on the right side. That must have been my first time there because I switched to a Atlas EQ6 shortly after.

I wanted to attend that star party as well for the past few years, but something always seemed to come up and prevent me from going.  I hope it will be rescheduled too.
