My OTA:  150mm CC.

Naked:  5.7kg

Dressed for the evening:  7.0kg  (A bit more when using the 2" barlow.)

Thanks.  What’s “CC”?

"Classic Cassegrain".  No corrector plate, (which would be the "Schmidt" in "Schmidt-Cassegrain") just two mirrors.

Parabolic primary and hyperbolic secondary.

[EDIT:  My "other" 'scope is a .9m CC!]

I've looked into the weight issue multiple times and you'll find there are inconsistencies within model weights described between individuals as well as between individuals and factory specs.   Typically I baseline any weight via the factory specs shown in their manuals but do not use the figures as set in stone but only a guide.  Some vendors will specify whether weight includes accesories or not, but any weight specc'd should be ONLY a baseline since accessories especially for AP use will push the weights up between 4-15lbs(or more depending on those accessories).   And weight is for factory equipped, so if upgrades like focusers have been done more weight is likely than less.

A prime example of factory variability is Meade's 8" ACF SCTs.  They vary in weight from the white 8" LX65/LX85 11.5lbs w/accessories up to blue ota 8" LX200 14lbs w/o accessories.    I recently bought an LX65 mount which has a one-side max weight of 14lbs so checked into how they managed to offer it with an 8" when I knew my  8" LX200 OTA would already be above the weight with any accessories.

Also, my 16" LX200 GPS weight is significant and reports from multiple owners show measured weights in a very wide range for bare OTAs; from 67lbs to near 90 bare to 125 for the upper fork/OTA assembly(in manual) .  I dont' buy the #125 when total weight is #318lbs(in manual) w/lower fork & base included, they aren't close to making up the #218 difference I think maybe they are 100-140lbs combined. That puts the upper assembly at somewhere above #125 up to #218 which is more likely as my brother and I (both of us are over 6' and capable and we found it challenging.     If indeed the 16" was only #67lbs bare we'd see a lot more of them mounted on #100 GEMS than we do.

Anyway... just wanted to make sure anyone looking for specific weight for OTAs to be aware of the variability.
