If they had put their optics in an empty giant toilet paper roll, I’d buy it still. lol.gif I love their 100 and 120Ed’s.

You sound like a early 90's Dob guy.  :)

I'd call it white and black with green accents.. But as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I generally recommend not holding on to bees.  :)

Why is it they like gaudy neon colors?

Give me a break..

At least they got the tube color right this time...

When they start introducing them in 100mm and up, with white tubes then I may get interested...

If Skywatcher is listening, lose the green for crying out loud, it's a telescope not ice cream.

I can’t resist! Someone at Skywatcher is a Green Lantern fan!

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!

They do look pretty sharp. And having seen the green in person it looks nice.

"It's not that bad" is hardly a ringing endorsement.  Without the green, it's the classic look which I like.  Adding the green, blue, orange, whatever, it's just not well coordinated, to my eye that is.

But these are prototypes and there are more important things than this color scheme which is likely tentative if that.

The 82mm sure looks to have a long dewshield.

They already use it in the Evostar line, it’s a fine color scheme. It’s modern look. Not so traditional and boring from the 60’s. Again this is all just opinion. Some will like it, some like myself enjoy the green on my Evostar, and some won’t. If the optics are amazing, at the end of they day, no one will look too much at the color on the outside. The color in the eyepiece is what matters most.

You ‘ hit the nail on the head ‘, its only what comes through it that counts ! Who cares about some color(s) when its dark and most times you are alone with the stars, some just have to b*tch about anything that doesn’t matter. Then there are people who paint their white / black tubes a shiny red, blue or whatever and everyone raves about it ! Go figure ?

These are prototype refractors so you will have to wait for pricing once they are actually ready for production.

As far as the colors. Yes, it’s going to have green as that’s our branding color. I wouldn’t say the ones pictured are finalized colors but it will have green. If you don’t like it all I can say is everything looks the same in the dark.

It appears that the Chinese, like the Japanese, have a different idea about what is beautiful.

It's a big world out there. Not everyone has American tastes.

The world would indeed be a much more dull place if everyone had the same tastes.

I actually quite like the color scheme. Not everything has to be boring off white. But I like the goldfleck black paint too, so who knows.

Who cares, again, just hoping the optics are great, and they put one out in the 120mm range I’ll be first to make a purchase in the US.

I’m a SW guy, I put my $ on another great scope, up there with the rest of the great scopes out there and usually for less $.

Three concerns for me. I’m a SW fan mysel...

One, glass type and mating.... we already know they will not disclose glass, which doesn’t bother me, but could they be moving towards more affordable? They know the 80-100-120 Evostar optics just work, would they be willing to change that around to bring a more affordable product to the market for the visual observer? Who knows

Two, focal lengths, what will their focal lengths be, shorter and faster? Same? One and two play a huge roll together.

And three... I really hope it’s not a replacement line to the Evostar. To everyone here, I love the black metal flake with the green 120ED accents in the tube.

Might as as well say 4... it is a prototype, the long long wait we could have to know anything about these, makes me hope it’s sooner than later.

Green trim on a refractor is an objectively terrible idea. This is why, objectively speaking, Takahashi makes the worst telescopes in the world.

Just a reminder that these prototypes so everything is still very new.

This is something still in development so it’s not completely finished as far as their specs. and what other sizes might come in the future.

From what I do know is that these fit between the Evostar and Esprit series.

Once they are actually ready for production we will release more details publicly.

Taks are very attractive scopes, like a vintage Fender Strat not an afterthought.

Sounds good to me! Thanks for sharing what you can regarding this new line of refractors.
