Yeah I just picked up (wife’s Christmas present to me)yet another Sky-Watcher Evostar 100. You really can’t go wrong with this line for visual use.

Don't boot me!

With small refractors a sliding dew shield isn't a big deal to me, but that style tube/focuser on the 150ED would be magic.

Predominantly white tubes are my preference, and I like the green trim. Any colour trim would be fine really.

So, are they building new models for sure? We're talking about new evostar doublets?

Was surprised not to see this posted on this thread yet. Unless someone else started a new thread with it.

Well, you might tell us where you found that advertisement.

Nothing on the Sky-Watcher USA website mentions the Evolux line.

Star gazers lounge had it posted. I noticed it. I also notice so much of Skywatcher comes out to the world before USA. They seem to have a new line out in Europe called the Starquest line. More entry but with what seems a better EQ starter mount than some.

It would be interesting to compare the Evoluxe with 80mm Equinox, its predecessor

http://scopeviews.co.uk/SWEq80ED.htm

For imaging, the Equinox has a rotateable focuser.

I think there are many things Sky-Watcher USA fails to mention to us here in the states.

Skywatcher Italy has already made the Evolux ED page on their website. Still no products, but they should be very close.

Keep an eye on this page for news:

You just know its going to be announced at NEAF, in recent years it almost seems to have become mandatory. But the horse seems to have bolted the stable when what looks like an official flyer is available on the internet.

Will the ED Evostars be discontinued now these Evoluxes are on the way?

I wonder if they'll carry the "new" lens design across the board to their other line of refractors?

Each division of Sky-Watcher handles release of new products differently.

The graphic that you see was the release from the factory stating the specs of the telescope. The reason we are usually more "delayed" here in North America for product release is because we like to actually evaluate the products before we release them to market. What other divisions do is up to them.

At this time the Evolux is not even shipping and there are only two samples outside of the factory. These are very new and we are excited to release them but we would rather wait to check them out completely before we release them to make sure they are where they need to be. We have had products release like this before and after we check them out we find things that need to be addressed. Rather than throwing it out to the world we address it and release when we feel its ready. I can only speak for North America however.

At this time the Evolux will fit between the Evostar and Esprit lines, they will not be replacing the Evostars at this time, if ever.

Have you guys ever looked at the starquest line with newer EQ2 mounts. Just curious. After seeing them, I kind of thought those mounts have to put perform most entry level EQ mounts on the market today.

I do not want to go too far off topic but here in North America we find there are already plenty of brands supporting the lower end product market. Sky-Watcher USA we choose to stay out of that for the most part and stay in the midrange and higher end product lines.
