Well I upgraded my MacBook Pro to macOS Catalina  and Nebulosity 4 no longer works , even tried the pre-release 64bit version.

Anyone here running Nebulosity 4 on a Mac ?

Can't seem to find the yahoo group or Wiki links from Stark seem dead.

Appreciate any help,

Cliff

Nebulosity 4.2 works perfectly on my 2012 MacBook Pro running El Capitan or something, and my 2018 MacBook Air running Mojave. I'll have to give the pre-release 64-bit version a try.

I'm still experimenting...(Not much of an answer, I know.) Leaning towards SPG and Pixinsight...Lots of threads of those using MACS for acquisition and processing on CN...Check them out..I threw in the towel and bought a cheap Dell, then an Eagle3...

The 64-bit Nebulosity starts up with no issues for me. It will be a while before I actually try using it.

Thanks for all the replies,

This is part of the 'crash report'

I ended up fixing it, hopefully haven't broken any other Apps.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crashed Thread:        3

Exception Type:        EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)
Exception Codes:       0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
Exception Note:        EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Termination Reason:    DYLD, [0x4] Symbol missing

Application Specific Information:
/Applications/Nebulosity4-64.app/Contents/MacOS/../Resources/libatikcameras.dylib

Dyld Error Message:
  Symbol not found: _libusb_hotplug_register_callback
  Referenced from: /Applications/Nebulosity4-64.app/Contents/MacOS/../Resources/libatikcameras.dylib
  Expected in: /usr/local/lib/libusb-1.0.0.dylib

------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what I did,

I copied libusb-1.0.0.dylib from inside the Nebulosity 4-64.dmg to /usr/local/lib/

I noticed the one there was only 73K while the one in Nebulosity was 113K so I replaced it. I did rename the other so I can return it.

Now happily running on Catalina,

Another App may have corrupted that file as Craig Stark said his ran fine and he sent the screen shot to prove it.

May be this will help the FEW Mac guys running Nebulosity but at least now I can use it .

Cheers

Cliff

Hi Cliff

I am having the same problem also, and I only paid for Nebulocity in August so well chuffed.

You seem to be a bit more familiar with computers than me. Would it be possible for step by step instructions as to how you action the workaround above?

Thanks,

Robin

Hi Robin,

I'll do my best , I'm no programmer.

If you are running MacOS Catalina make sure you have the Pre-release Beta release of Nebulosity 4 -64 installed the earlier ones are 32 bit and won't work anymore on Catalina.

If you double click on the Nebulosity4-64_resign.dmg file you downloaded and go to the image on the desktop and open it,

Then right click on the Nebulosity4-64.app inside and select show package contents.

Under contents you will find Resources and the file you want is libusb-1.0.0.dylib Right click and copy then paste it to say the desktop .

You need to copy the file to /usr/local/lib/

Easiest way is to use a file utility I use Forklift but you can use finder but you need to access the hidden files.

If you are comfortable with Terminal you can use that.

From the prompt $

cp /usr/local/lib/libusb-1.0.0.dylib /usr/local/lib/old-libusb-1.0.0.dylib

This keeps a backup of the original

Then you need to copy the file from the desktop

cp /Users/cliffs/Desktop/libusb-1.0.0.dylib /usr/local/lib

'cliffs' needs to be replaced with your User Account Name.

Sounds difficult but actually easier to do then explain. Maybe I should have pictures or video ?

Hope that helps if you attempt it, hopefully this will be fixed once Nebulosity 4-64 goes to stable version.

I did tell Craig Stark if he reads my email.

Cliff
