I have to start thinning out my scope collection. I have my favorites for planetary captures, but I will be trying my hand at deep sky-galaxies/nebulas. As far as using a refractor, which would be the better choice- my W.O. Megrez90FD(FPL53 doublet) or my AT80ED(triplet)?  All and any advice is welcome, thanks.

Are you saying you own both, and wish to know which to keep? Or that after thinning the herd you want to buy one of these two?

Because it would seem if you own both the thing to do is evaluate which works best for you.

Why?

If it were me - its probably easier to thin the collection than find another tolerant wife.  grin.gif

Well let us know which you pick and why. It isn't always optics. Sometimes the focuser can swing the deal one way or the other.

Keep the WO.  Faster F/L along with faster cooling.
