Hi,

Just picked up the Nexstar 4 SE. Looking for a Pelican case the scope except for the tripod. Anyone know if the Pelican 1600 will doe the job?

Thanks, Ralph

I keep my 6SE in a 1620 case.  Dimensions on the 1620 (per Pelican.com) are 21 x 16 x 12.  Dimensions on the 1600 are 21 x 16 x 7, so it may not be deep enough for the OTA and mount on the 4SE.  I've attached a couple of pics of my 6SE in the 1620 case for reference.

1600 would most likely fit but why bother.

1620 looks like it's made for that set up.

What's the total weight?

The case is about 23 lbs and the 6SE and mount are about 19.  I also keep a 9x50 finder in there, which was added after the pics were taken.  Total is just over 40 lbs.  The wheels and the retracting handle on the 1620 case make transport very easy.  My other scope is a CPC 1100, so this one is piece of cake to move!  cool.gif
