I'v sent an email and have called several times over the past few days. No response.

Their phone recording says they will call back within 2 hours. No response.

I think their current turnaround on a order is like 21 days? Seems impossible to place an order if you need to ask a few questions though?

Anyone know if something is up with them?

Are their any competitors that I might try?

I just got something from them a couple weeks ago, right on time. I'm not saying they're not open to discussions, but I mostly just set-and-forget, so maybe they're more used to that as well (I did get an adapter put on their list, though). But they're around.

In my experience, Precise Parts is run as an "automated business."  Enter what you want on the site and you'll get a confirmation of order.  The part will arrive pretty much when they say it will.  If you want to discuss something with them, you can mostly forget about it.  You can get a hold of them but it can be hard and they are not flexible.  In my view, that's ok...as long as they keep making high quality parts.  The Astro community will be really hard-up if they disappear.

Okay, went ahead and ordered it.  Not thrilled that you can't get to speak to someone - why even have a phone message saying they'll get back to you in 2 hours?

Yes, been there, done that, got the T-shirt :). I have a specific question that needs a voice to answer.

I've gotten a response from them before, but only when the part I received was incorrect. They were not all that awesome to work with until they accepted it was wrong. Once they agreed to fix it, they were pretty good to work with. They just asked for the part it mates to so they can correct it and then I got the new part and the borrowed part back in a reasonable amount of time. Their parts are awesome, so my experience with them didn't affect me going through them. But, at least I heard back from them when I needed to.

This was about 5 years ago and was a Celestron part that I would say most people wouldn't go through the expense of a precise part to get set up. I am pretty sure the design was wrong and hadn't been used yet, not the machining job.

I've gotten a lot of parts from them over the last several years.  All of them absolutely spot on.  And, I've had a few phone conversations and email exchanges with Ashley that were helpful and informative to my desired ends.  He definitely knows what he is doing.  Emails have usually been returned within a day.  Phone calls the same.  I've had great luck with them.

Nothing from them yet. Can't even tell if my payment went through??

Your experience is what it should be...seems to be a rare occurrence.

I emailed them on 13 Sep and got a reply the same day. Perhaps they are on vacation?

Well, another day another email another phone call and nothing returned. Can't get ahold of anyone at precise parts.

I personally cannot stand businesses that have poor communications!  It's just pathetic.  Still, with Precise Parts, it may be too early to panic.  It is a really small business and they may just be away from the shop.  Did you get an email response to your order?  That usually comes within a day or two after placing an order.

No, its been absolute crickets since I started trying to communicate with them on Monday. I've phoned and emailed each day - both through their own email online (at PreciseParts website) and my personal emails.

Also, I guess my payment never went through. I've tried paying several times over the week and I always end up with this - when trying to pay directly with my credit card:

Or this when using PayPal - even though PayPal never shows the purchase?

Maybe they have gone under?

Check the help section under payments. There is a note about this error. I had the same thing on a purchase once. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly how I resolved it. Have you tried using paypal from another device to pay for the part?

Hey,

Thanks Monkeybird. Went through the help questions re payment and sure enough, I had to delete the cookies for PayPal and then payment went through without issue. See where it goes from here :)

They replied to my email a few weeks ago after only a few days and were very helpful. :)
