OK, I also fix the readme file in the setup.  Will reload a new installer tomorrow.

If run as administrator is not checked this is even worst. This indicate you totally disable UAC in the computer and always run everything with the maximum privilege, even the web browser and all the virus.

Hello Mr. Chevalley,

I recently updated to Version 4.2 and yesterday was the first night that I could use CdC together with ASCOM to controll my telescope (EQMOD). I noticed that the ASCOM dialog has changed a bit. Can you help me with some details?

See my Screenshot:

cdc-ascom.png

  • What does Sternzeit x ? mean - "Sternzeit" (german) means "Sidereal time"? When I connect to EQMOD, the 1 automatically switches to "4".
  • The arrow buttons indicate some kind of movement control, but actually nothing happens when I push a button, the checkbox in the middle cannot be checked.
  • The ^ V is the radio button for switching between N-S S-N movement... so far that is clear. Although I wonder if this overwrites any other setting e.g. DEC Reverse setting in the EQMOD Dialog?

Thank you for your help and for programming this great software.

Stephan

Hi Stephan,

This is all about a small virtual handpad to move the telescope in different direction at  different speed.

In English the text is only "Sidereal x" and is about the telescope speed in multiplier of the sidereal rate.  When you connect it change for the speed currently selected  in the telescope, 4x in your case.

The ^v selection is to revert the declination movement. This is common with german equatorial mount to revert the direction depending on the pier side. This not change anything in the driver, this only invert the up and down button on the right.

The four arrow are to move the telescope in the different direction. The middle button is to stop any movement in the case the mouse up event is not received by the program, this can occur when using remote desktop software.

But sure with 4x the sidereal rate it is difficult to see any movement. Change for a higher speed for testing, around 32x is good for centering in the eyepiece, 200 to 600 are to slew to another part of the sky. But the value range depend on your mount.

Strange mosaic results. I have tried redefining the CCD frame and multiple shutdown and restarts of CDC, any help would be appreciated.

You set the center of the mosaic at the North pole so it is expected the camera field rotate around the mount axis.

If you really want a mosaic of the North pole this require a different camera rotation relative to the telescope for every frame. This is not supported by this tool.

On any other sky location this make no problem, even at high declination you can manage the rotation by increasing a bit the overlap.

I upgraded to the most recent version, 4.2.1.  When I attempt to disconnect the telescope I'm once again getting a message to the effect I cannot close a hidden window and the program will terminate.  Do I have the most recent version?

It must be ground hog day.  I've already asked this question and somehow downgraded from the beta version.  Will follow your last instructions.  Apologies!

'To use CDC with your mount you just need to install the latest version of CDC, the ASCOM platform and the ASCOM driver for the mount.'

I have the eq-35 mount, an Altair mono camera that works on Altair capture software,  and I have been trying to install CDC and all the rest of the stuff for 15 hours with 0 result.

Is there anywhere to be found instructions that give the proper order of installation plus ALL the details of what has to be done, when things are plugged in, and info filled in at each stage?

I'm running win 10 pro...

Andy
