I’m new on map software. Got some issue on star locations and marks:

Overall, seems like all stars are shifting downward and pile up over there.

Please advise, thanks.

Names have moved away from the relevant star. That can be seen from Alpha Taurus and Sig1+2 Tau.

No idea why but could be the Autostar Suite out of date. I have one with a now close to 20 year old ETX. They may never have been meant or intended to last that long. I have a mobile that stops at 2014. The world apparently ended in 2014 according to that.

I also have old software that cannot run on the new processors, they are just not compatible and the Autostar Suite could also be in this catagory. As said it is OLD.

Go buy something better, although shutting down Autostar Suite, cleaning out data and repower may help. I have never used the Meade Autostar Suite. If it is on a PC get Stellarium (PC version) if Phone/tablet get Skysafari.

One other that may be involved is that the display was likely expected to be a CRT, whereas now they are LED and similar and also can be previously unknow aspect ratios amd so the names may be unable to have their display coordinates correctly interpretted. As said the software is old.

I'm trying to create PDF maps per my like,

and just found out that I can modify the SNAMES.DAT file by using the data from

http://www.starxref..../stars_list.htm

It takes a lot of time.

The Autostar Suite is the current version downloaded from Meade site.

Its related data might be corrupted.

Thanks for the info.

I started astronomy at 12 yrs old. I've been out of the hobby for about 8 years.  I decided to pull out my LX200 from moth balls for the Atlas Y4 comet.

I forgot how time consuming it can be to get hardware upgraded & compatible again with all the changes in PC's & software.

I guess that's why I finally retired as a Motorola engineer. I realized it was becoming harder and harder to keep up with all the network and software advancements.

From my past experiences with Meade's Autostar Suite I don't remember it being so complicated to load new ephemeris data.

From my past experiences with Meade's Autostar Suite it has now become more complicated to set up & configure. I upgraded everything involved but what perplexes me the most is after all upgrades this comet is not listed in the Autostar selection under comets after loading the latest ephemeris data. My patients is dwindling. I'm considering using KStar. I'm also definitely not impresses with Meade's web site help info now. I'm Wondering if anyone can give any suggestions or if they have had similar issues?
