Being a family man, and having to pack an awful lot of stuff into the car, the smallest scope gets the highest priority.  Right now, that’s the 102mm Mak, for sure.  But I have my eye on the AT 72ED II, and was wondering, first, does it come with a carrying case?  If not, what is a good, well-padded soft case that fits it snugly?  This under five pount marvel would compete very well with the Mak 102.  Might not have quite as many photons delivered to the eyeball, but should be close, and the gigantic field of view would give the little refractor a clear advantage if I were able to use it at a dark sky site.

Harbor Freight Apache 3800 hard case. With a coupon: $29.00. Best knock off  pelican case out there. Heres my AT72 ED II.

Very nice, Toddeo!  I find it on Amazon for $60, but we have a Harbor Frieght in town.  I'll have to check them out -- and look for the coupon.  The external dimensions of the case are 15” x 11” x 7”and internal ones, according to Amazon, are 14-7/8” X 10-5/8” X 6”.  If that sounds right, that's good.  I measured my Orion 102mm Mak case, and it is 18.5" x 8.5" x 8”.  The square inches of the Apache 3800 are even smaller.  Thank you very much!

I second the Apache cases. I have one for my .965 eyepieces and it's actually real nice, especially since I only paid $15 for it. I really wanted one for my AT102ED but I don't think they have one that's big enough. I most definitely will get another one when I need it.

I've got the Apache 4800, a little bigger than the 3800, but it fits the scope with a guide scope and 13" dovetail bar attached.  If you just had the scope in the case, you would have lots of room for eyepieces and accessories.  This is also from Harbor Freight.
