Dear observers, I have a day vacation left. When I woke up this morning the sky was clear but sill rather dark. I immeadetelay decided to sketch something at the moon.

The region around Ptolemaeus was wonderful! I used my 4 inch refractor at 144x and sketched with pastel pencils.

I like the sketch very much and hope you enjoy it too. The image is mirror reversed.

Dear Frank, yes I used black paper and a set of pastel pencils (white, two shades of grey and black). These pencils don't contain any grease and are more or less the pure chalk. This gives real bright highlights and the chance to sketch with black over gray areas. The last one I used for the grooves at the right edge.

Hi,

Excellent rendering of shades of gray in the twilight area. I particularly like the light corridor in Ptolemaeus.

Thank you for sharing, Uwe!

Clear sky,
Francis

Excellent Uwe, much more realistic than on white paper and pencil.

This is Uwe version 2.0 !

I like the impressionistic-realistic blend.
