I used these while working at night a week ago, and for a 10X42 it provided some great views. These are the older FL from Zeiss - the newer HTs are out there, but tough to find. Both have AK prisms, so they have less mirror/reflection issues as SP prisms, and provide high transmission.

If you are looking for a 10X42 to use under the night sky, as well as daytime viewing, they are usually cheaper than the newer HTs, and Zeiss still services them.

These FL’s are great binoculars and very hard to best on axis!

I have its cousin the 10x42 HT. Same optics in a different package, I think?

Great views, but I think I need a lot more time to be certain just how exceptional it is.

The weather and my health haven't been cooperating.

Erik,

Yes they are, and the 10X56FL is still king, esp. with respect to glare.

There is one for sale on eprey.

In my experience, yes.

That's why I have one. No other currently available new 10x42, 10x50 or 10x56 under US $6000 beats it on axis. Or in overall viewing for my eyes. I find it exceptional indeed.
