Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the function of the large bolt and lock nut, on the DEC axis, in the attached photo?

Thanks,

Basically any manual for a Cave, Optical Craftsman, Parks , Criterion,or other major 1970's GEM will be the same. They all had AC synchronous RA drives, most had DC DEC drives with a few exceptions (or none). All had usable setting circles, 3 legged piers, and tangent arm DEC drives, with a few exceptions.
