Kudos to you Rob!  I really like this, by the way.  Very nicely done UI and works well.

A viable alternative to EQMod.

This came to my attention due to a search for EQMOD alternatives that support features like auto-home and so forth. For me personally it is important to have an option for EQMOD since it won't work forever without updates and some issues are there.

So a few questions:

– Is this just a low-priority hobby project or do you plan to work on it years ahead?

– Does it have an AutoPEC feature or something similiar?

– Does it support multiple connections at a time, like connection from PHD and imaging software at the same time?

Sorry if some of these questions are stupid or have obvious answers. Just want to be sure ;)

Hi Paul,

>> – Is this just a low-priority hobby project or do you plan to work on it years ahead?

I don't get paid so it's a hobby but have been working on it for a few years now and will continue. I have another person helping so that helps.

>> – Does it have an AutoPEC feature or something similiar?

Currently it supports mounts that support PPEC, but there are new guiding techniques which helps.  I have an old Atlas EQ-G and guiding alone does the trick.

>> – Does it support multiple connections at a time

yup, works with everything out there, that I know about.

Great! Thank you for your fast response. As soon as summer is over and the night comes back to my place, I will give it a try with an EQ6-R and EQ8-R!

Curious if anyone is using Gsserver?

I tried it briefly but seemed like i got stuck in calibration hell with PHD2 over correcting more than it would with eqmod.  Since i'm going full remote, the idea of having a visual representation of telescope model (as well as a camera from my pc mounted below) would really be nice.

Just curious if people have had much luck running with this and what steps they may have took to tweak it all.

Fought other issues while prepared for a streak of clear nights. Did not want to risk to loose them. Just installed it and tried out briefly the general functions. No more than a dry run so far. But it worked. Still have to test guiding, meridian flip etc..

Is it possible to use GS Server with IP connection to the mount ( AZ GTI in my case).

I see only COM port in settings?

Thank you!

no direct IP but you may be able to use a virtual port.

I used it for a while with my CG5 belt+astrorq build. It always complined about limits, but I seen no option to set limits, neither I use them.

Hi Rob,

Are you still looking for testers?  I just started using GS Server this week with my Atlas II EQ-G mount (aka Skywatcher EQ6-R Pro).  So far, so good.  I need to go through the documentation a little closer for some of the finer points, but it works well in SharpCap, PHD2, and Starry Night Pro.

It's all I use -- since January. 100% success. Never a single failure for me.
