I'm resurrecting this thread from a few years ago, it's now in the archives. Back in 2014-15 this retail store ripped our astronomy club off on an order that was over $200. No product and no refund.

I'm wondering if in the interim anyone else experienced a similar issue and how you dealt with it.

Also as a warning to stay clear of this outfit.

The Statute of Limitations for small claims have certainly run by now..Even  in California..If you didn't pursue this when it happened  you sorta allowed it to continue to others...ALWAYS pay by credit card....ALWAYS pay by credit card...and then ALWAYS pay by credit card.....

Why resurrect it ?

Some find it cathartic to resurrect and burn in effigy, as it were, old grievances.

From fifteen years ago?! Probably time to move on and enjoy the Holiday Season, joyful tidings, and all. And yet... and yet... I remember sixty-five years ago, my dad called me lazy... he was absolutely right, of course... but still...    Tom

I bought some eyepieces (I think) from them back about this time period and had no issues. Not sure if they are still around considering the proliferation of inexpensive Chinese astronomy stuff on E-Pay.

The original post says 2014-2015.  How time flies, I had no idea it was 2030 already!!!!

As a general matter, I'd say that while disagreements should be allowed to pass, acting in genuine bad faith speaks to a character issue, and its worthwhile to have a long memory, because character doesn't usually change.

Maybe so, but before launching into ridiculing the OP, it would have occurred to many people to evaluate the full story by clicking through the link.  Its clearly from 2015.

Ten years ago or so I bought a few accessories from Owl Astronomy.  I didn't have any problems with the company.

It appears that the Owl website has not been updated since 2014 and most of the info was from 2011-2012.  Seems pretty much defunct now.  Guessing they are not around anymore.  Guessing they were already in trouble when the OP first dealt with them.  Website looks mom and pop to begin with and it even states that it was a hobby turned side business - tacked onto whatever the owner's real business was.

At this point, the club is probably just going to have to write-off their $239 (or whatever it was) and spend their evenings staring at Orion.  Don't think anyone is going to have to worry about dealing with that guy again.

Several years ago I read that the owner's wife was sick and he was involved in her care.  The business may have folded for all intents and purposes.

Hi, John! I simply took the OP's original, unedited post as composed, where he attacks and ridicules the vendor. I correctly pointed out that fifteen (which then became five) years is still a long time to nurture a grudge. And that's helpful, calming consul, just the opposite of your incorrect interpretation of my intent. We just gota chill, and afford both sides the benefit of the doubt when sitting on the sidelines. Otherwise, random gossip just propagates, unabated.   Tom

A grudge hurts the grudger, not the grudgee.
