Presented here is a rarely imaged ring galaxy, listed as both NGC 1269 and NGC 1291. This galaxy is 33mly distant in the constellation Eridanus. Perhaps not the most colourful or beautiful galaxy, but it's interesting nonetheless. I was hoping for a bit more data, but we've had a lot of fires around lately and the smoke blew in again so I think I'm done with it for now.

Hi Lee,

That's a really beautiful image. It's really smooth. I really like how the outer edges develop really nicely from the core. Sometimes conditions transpire to ruin our fine capturing of detail so I fully understand your frustration but you persevered and the effort paid off- well done!

Best wishes- Mark.

Fantastic! There aren't too many of those  ring galaxies out their for us to image. Nice work.

Lee,

Excellent image on this galaxy. Also, a fairly good sized galaxy. Nice work.

It is a large galaxy and a lovely shot. I looked, I won't be imaging it though. It only gets to 8 degrees above the horizon for me. Sadness.

Thanks Chris :-) On the flip side, I'm sure you have access to a tonne of cool galaxies I can't image.

Thanks pyrasanth! You'll be guzzling down those photons with an 11" RASA.
