Just to mention that also versions make a difference, given that starting from v6 Skysafari was built rewriting the internal code.

I have two Skysafari's (also to support the terrific work of the developers), a Pro v5 and a Plus v6: v6 (at least in my experience with a Nexstar evo) is less stable, sometimes freezes and has connection problems, whereas v5 is rock solid. Result: I end up always using v5.

So besides pro vs plus, beware also that v6 is the start of a new codebase and might be somehow less reliable in some cases.

This might be also helpful to people who are thinking about upgrading.

Said this, software bugs are unavoidable: Skysafari in any version is anyway a must have.

Clear skies!

Puzzled.

No mention of Meade LS6 or connecting to one.

Is this a post error?

I read as I can get to use/access an LS6 and the details of using Skysafari could therefore be relevant, since I also have Skysafari. There is just nothing here.

I know topic is old but never the less, my reply could be of use to someone out there :)

I have the Meade Stella Wi-Fi adapter connected to my Meade LS6, and can control the LS6 with SkySafari Pro (used version 6 and 7). It works OK, however the Autostar hand controller will not display the target acquired with SkySafari.

The 497 is sending the position of the telescope to Sky Safari and when you GOTO an object in Sky Safari,  Sky Safari  just sends the position that you want the telescope to slew to back to the 497.  So there is no  object information sent like the Messier number for example.  If you  hold the MODE key for 2 sec on the 497  you get to a menu that will allow you view the RA/DEC and Alt/Az of the scope.
