Cool. I must be getting close. I got on the list at 7:59PM eastern on the 18th, but I haven't heard anything yet.

My confirmation is 8:25 p.m. on the 18th.  No word yet.

Acquisition of a new 210 Mewlon in late October has caused a ripple effect.  At the time I bought the instrument, I had figured there was no way my "A. P. number" would come up.  Will have to give it some thought if I get the notice.

I just received a letter saying that you can still order a Stowaway if you want one if you call Astro-Physics by 12 PM CST Jan. 24th.  Evidently the list wasn’t as long as the 3rd run.

What?  There are still people on the Stowaway notification list who haven't been notified.  They were still taking signups at least 2-3 more days after the people who have been notified so far.  Would this put new people on the end of the list?

Really? Their website still says the list is closed. I've been looking for an air travel scope and hadn't considered the Stowaway because it was too late to get on the list. Will have to give them a call.

confused1.gif  Does... not...compute.. I still haven't been notified and I got on the list on the 18th of 2018. I would think I would have been notified before they start asking for new interested parties to sign up. I guess I need to call them tomorrow before they skip over me.

Perhaps Astro-Physics didn't get SandyHouTex's email declining his chance to purchase a Stowaway, and the letter is a way to double check that he got the offer.  Or in case he had second thoughts.

That would make sense - the list was open right through NEAF I believe that year so there should be more folks to go yet, I would suspect many more.

Yes, until the 21st iirc, then the list was closed.

So it just seems to be a pretty general letter.  Since I was recently notified by email of my name coming up, it could be meant specifically for me, but it struck me as, “hey, call us before Jan. 24th of you want one.”

I could be wrong though.  If I am, I apologize.

Still haven’t heard from A-P but I’m patiently waiting and not concerned - signed on near end of day on 18th.

As I understand it, AP mails a physical letter in addition to an email for notifications. The physical letter is delayed, naturally, but should be similar, if not identically worded, to the email (mine were). You posted on the 9th that you got the email notification, and the 24th makes that pretty close to a two week window. Does the 24th match the reply-by date in your email notification, by chance?

I got the same letter along with emails to all of my various email accounts.  It's just AP being thorough in notifying us and giving us a fair chance to accept or decline the offer.

I also received the letter a few days after the email. AP is just making sure potential customers are notified by different means.

I declined after several days of careful thought. A great scope no doubt. I am 100% visual and my lightweight and widefield scope is my TV-76. I would have sacrificed some portability and maximum field of view (and some $) by moving to the Stowaway.

As others have said, you get notified first by email and then a letter shows up later.  The list is still closed.

Yes, but I didn't get a letter a couple of years ago when I came up on the AP 130 list.

Oh well.  Sorry.

I got my letter last Friday. I let mine go. I found two of them and bought them previously. One for me and one for my kid so we can observe together. I didn’t need a third since my wife has zero interest in astronomy. Sadly she and my kid are tetrachromats which mean they both can see color in small telescopes. Unfortunately I am not. :(

Has anyone tried using a 1.25" prism diagonal in the new Stowaway to see if eyepieces come to focus?  I plan to use a Tak 1.25" prism when I get mine to cut down the back weight of the scope.  Since the focuser has 2.5" of travel, I assume they will.

Bill Barlow

I just put my Celestron 1.25 in diagonal in my 92 Stowaway.  I needed a 50mm extension to reach focus on closer terrestrial objects

(50 ft - 100 yards).  The stars etc. are at the very end of focus travel without the extension.  This is with an ES 68 degree 20 mm eyepiece.  My 1.25 inch ScopeStuff dielectric diagonal needs no extension, as well as my 2 inch Baader BBHS diagonal, unless I want to look at objects very close.  My recommendation is buy a 50mm extension from A-P, or Agena, or High Point Scientific, or........its

a handy accessory.  I bought it because I need it for my A-P Barlow.

Thanks for the information.  I won’t be using the Stowaway during the daytime, but will try it out on sunspots if any occur again.

Congratulations on getting notified.  It looks like AP is almost through the first two days of folks signing up for the new Stowaways.  I sent in my 50% deposit last Friday.

4-18-18 1:45pm i was put on the list.

Sent the money in today. I plan on using it a lot during the day as a spotting scope with a binoviewer and occasional lunar and planetary viewing.

It is a fantastic spotting scope. I use mine a lot for birding.

I got on the list "late" - April 20. Haven't heard a word yet, but if this letter 'computes', I should hear something in the relatively near future - I hope.
