Because seeing was good at Christmas I observed Sirius. In 2012 I had great difficulty to see the Pup, but now it was rather easy. I tried to make my pencil sketch as realistic as possible. I added some color in GIMP but I'm not 100% satisfied with the result.

Which version do you prefer?

Jef, color is very appropriate for this sketch. Is the "Pup" the dot ENE of A, between the rays?

Great sketch. In all my years of doing astronomy I have never tried to split these two. I might have to give it a try on the next clear night. I do like the added color.

Good work, your drawing well represents very well how Sirius looks through a telescope. I find while observing Sirius using as much magnification as the seeing will bear is very helpful. I was looking at Sirius B during Christmas Eve at nearly 600X through my 15-inch. That pulled the white dwarf away from Sirius A enough to make it easy to see.
