He, I was wondering if I have answered this thread. Couldn't remember doing so, obviously I had lol.gif . Of course I changed my mind. I sold an Equinox 120ED and got a nice Tak FC100DC instead. But now I am really satisfied, and full grin.gif

Kept my 120 Equinox. Too much love for it.

AVX 6 achro on the way.  Hoping it's the ultimate backyard scope. Jack of all trades master of none. An uncompromising compromise.

Plans for a light, slender, and fast 80-ish apo for a grab-n-go on a panhead photo tripod are next up.

But also a 127 Mak to hopefully do the work of a long slow 4" refractor in a more portable package.

Or whatever fate sets in front of me.

Somewhere way way down the line, a do-it-all 120 to 127 f7-ish apo. But not this year. As a rookie I got some fumblin around to do before I get there. Saving my pennies.

The telescopes I have right now cover all my observing needs at this time. So I will not buy another refractor this year. Now, I’ll keep repeating that to myself until I believe it.lol.gif Telescope.gif Telescope.gif Telescope.gif

I am really considering buying the explore Scientific 102-FCD100. I currently have an ES 80-FCD100 but would like a little more aperture. My only hold up is that I’m tempted on buying a Celestron 8”HD edge. However, I’m Not sure if I want to deal with collimation, or cool down.

Refractor to Refractor : YES

Refractor to Reflector : NO (if it is only refractor you have)

I didn't plan to. But I placed an order with TNR for Ascent 102 f/11 ED. I was told it is not in stock and offered me a choice of waiting for one or cancellation. I quickly cancelled. Still itchy and it needs a scratchy.

I can never say for certain that a new refractor isnt in the cards.  I guess I will just see where my budget and observing habits lead me lol.

Just starting the journey, shopping for my first refractor. Looking at William Optics GT102. Any guesses when it might be available? Or is it something that might need to be wait-listed?

I normally don't plan my bad decisions 😂. Recently had the bright idea to pick up a TS 152 f5.9. Of course I then just had to buy a larger tripod and pier extension. Me and my great ideas 😅.

I did not plan to buy one, but I purchased a used TSA-120 anyway (could not resist).

That’s the scope that’s been tempting me the last few months, even though I already have a great 60mm apo that I love. So many things to like about these 60mm apos.

I am awaiting a Sky 90 I purchased this last week, used from a vendor/ dealer. I think it should be a fine compliment to my SVX 125 Stellarvue. Gleaned through all pro and cons that I could possibly find and thought I would give it a shot!

Tech Pan was amazing film back in the day. I never ventured into real IR film though. I think there are still some films that are similar to Tech Pan from Roli and Agfa but I'm fully digital since 2002 and I am NOT going back to wet processing even if someone else is dipping it for me.

Tech Pan pictorially was the only film even remotely capable as digital to record fine detail at 35mm.  I still have some in the freezer.  I loved it, despite the 25 ASA speed.

2 GTX's eclipse those 4 80mm jobs anyway.  smile.gif

Had I seen this in January, I’d have said there was no way I’d add another refractor. I have the vintage gap filled with a Royal Astro Tasco 7TE, I’ve got grab and go covered with a Tak FS-60, and high-end observing and imaging covered with a TOA-130.

As 2020 is proving to be a strange year for all of us, mine was also host to a near fatal incident from which I’m still recovering. That really imparted a “you only live once” mentality in me, so when I saw a TOA-150 come on the market, I had to jump on it. It will take a few months to retool my imaging and observing setup to accommodate it, but when it’s done I’ll once again be back in the position to say there’s no way I’ll be buying another refractor... so ask again in 2021!
