Hi all,

I am not the proud owner of a two year old Takahashi FSQ85, and got it for a bargain price.. 😀

there is one very small mark on the focuser and as I am quite OCD I would like to touch it up, but this scope is the newer blue /green variety and I have no idea what colour it is or where to start to look, it looks like an ice blue or maybe even a duck egg blue...?.

any ideas or anyone know if there is a touch up paint available...?

Olly

Send them an email. They have little bottles of touch up paint.

With regard to the Light Green Paint used on Takahashi parts and assemblies,  I've recently found the Krylon enamel in "Pistachio"  to be an excellent match,  in the rattle can,   I discovered the color available and reasonably priced on the shelf at a local Hobby Lobby.

For surface prep, A  light sanding of the affected areas  followed by  a dash of primer on bare metal surfaces and then color topcoat applied  lightly works great.

I baked the finish in an oven at 175 degrees for about an hour and repeated the process a few times .

So please tell me how this helps when I wanted the newer blue color....
