Hi

 

Will the Magellan II encoders keep track of the position of the LX50, if you loosen the RA/Dec clamps and move the telescope manually, or must moving the telescope be done with the handbox to keep the alignment ?

Yes, positional data is sent by the encoders whenever either axis is rotated. You can move the axis too quickly for the data to be processed, but about 3-4° a second should be OK.
