Hey all,

Been thinking about building a refractor with a lens from Surplus Shed.  Problem is with their lens finder, no what I type it returns no lenses.  I have tried a large range that should return 20-30 lenses, results 0

I have tried this with 3 browsers on 2 computers.

Have any of you had this problem, How did you fix it?

Steve

The website is so annoying. Use the quick finder drop down. It’s about midway down the page and it will pull up a list of all their stuff subsorted.

I just typed in the word lens in the search bar. This was one of the hits half-way down the first page. Using Chrome browser.

There was a time when I ordered a lot of stuff from SS including lenses. A few years ago I noticed the lens finder was not returning anything a lot of the time. I haven't used it much in the last couple of years.

Did you try small focal lengths?  Maybe they only have tiny lenses?

Anyway, lens finder works great for me.  I used chrome.

Steve:

Look under categories and choose "objective lenses."

I have noticed a lot of the optical components listed on SS and shown as "out of stock" actually originate from China, from AliExpress.

Head to AliExpress and I suggest you will find what you want, and in stock, though it may take a bit of searching.

Good luck with your refractor, Steve. I saw they had a Wollensack 6" in stock....

What size/focal length were you interested in?  Might try a Wanted listing in the classifieds.

I got an email from them, showing most of the popular objectives in stock. Sign up for the mailing list! They don't spam you too much.

Lol!  What is "too much"?  I run a store and send out 1 spam per year.  I feel guilty about that!

I already got 5 emails this month alone (5 in 3 weeks).

Oh well I have other companies emailing me daily, or every two days. I consider that excessive. When I see an SS email. I'm not annoyed.
