So not to initiate a lot of basic questions. This was working before my laptop rebuild.

I nice fresh install of Windows7 sounded like a good idea.

1. After the install I applied all the patches and service packs available.

2. Installed latest ASCOM plarform 6.4 SP1

3. Installed iOptron Commander for EQ30 8407

4. iOptron sees the correct port but never finds the mount.

5. Remove ASCOM and iOptron Commander...Reinstall

6. Still no joy...

There seems to be something else that is required but for the life of me I can't remember and I'm not finding anything additional mentioned anywhere.

Thanks!

Might not apply to your system, but for my system (CEM60EC) you need the driver for the virtual COM port.  You might need something similar - don’t know enough about your setup to be sure.

Connect to a computer via RS232 serial port. An optional RS232 to USB adapter (iOptron
part #8435) is needed if your computer does not have a serial port, like most of the laptops
on the market today. Follow the adapter instructions to install the adapter driver.

Windows 7 users should install .NET Framework 4.5.2.

A Win10 system would now be a good choice as Win7 support has ended.

Thanks for the reply. I have the driver for my specific virtual device installed.. I have also tried a couple of generic drivers.

I have .NET Framework 4.8. Is that good or do I need 4.5.2 specifically?

.Net Framework 4.8 supports all the functionality of 4.5.2. Unless some programmer checks specifically for a version, which they shouldn't, it should work fine with 4.8.

How do you have your laptop connected to the mount? What kind of cables, hooked to what ports?

I'm connected with a usb serial converter cable. Same everything that was working before my rebuild.

Not sure it was a better fit. Zero responses since you moved it. Thanks...

I don't think we have enough information here to help you. The iOptron software sees the port. Which port is that? If you are using a USB to serial cable, is that the port associated with it? Have you checked Windows Device Manager to see if that is the correct port?
