Being a former logistics anaylst, I simply must know everything about numbers and thier meaning. I have search the forums high and low. Perhaps I overlooked the topic. I just purchased a OTI Quantum Q4 SN# GI102436. Thank most kindly for any info you might have and want to share. Peace.

You might ask this in the Questar forum (under Telescope Specific Forums). Itkind of the ‘unofficial’ Quantum forum too so there might be someone there able to give you an answer.

Found the answer... My SN is GI102436. GI = 1979 (G = 7) letter of the alphabet and (I = 9) 1979. GH would be 1978. 102 is 102mm objective. 436 is build/production# 436 out of 645 Q4's produced.

I own a Quantum 6 telescope that came without the bracket on the side of the telescope or the mount. I found a bracket without a serial number on it! did they put the serial number anywhere else on the scope? Just found the mount  ( probably a miracle to find these two parts separate from 2 different people) and it all went together very nice. It looks awesome all together. It uses 2inch eyepieces so will have to use a 2 inch to 1 1/4 adapter to use my Brandon's. It also came with the aluminum cell that the solar filter goes in.It had no dew shield but a Celestron dew shield fits perfect, just tight enough to slide on and stay.this has taken about 3 years to find these parts.I tried to test the telescope but you cant find anything without a good finderscope.Still looking for finder scope brackets.
