As stated on the website of ZWO of their feathertouch bracket for the EAF:

"It has confirmed it fits the 8″ SCT/RASA, 9.25″ SCT and the 11″ SCT/RASA."

I purchased this bracket and cant for the life of me see how this adapter fits on my RASA 8.  Anyone know if this is possible?

OK.  You said you had the feathertouch adapter, so...

How about some pictures of what you do have? :)

Focuser without rubber knob

This is the focuser of the RASA 8 without the rubber knob.  The brass fitting doesnt fit the attachment for the EAF.

It looks like the wording on the ZWO page may be a poor translation -- I'm pretty sure that they're talking about the Feathertouch focuser ONLY on the RASA scopes (since the adapter itself is specifically for Feathertouch focusers).  So the assurance that it will work on the RASA 8 is only an assurance that it will work on the RASA 8 *with* a Feathertouch focuser installed.  The page doesn't make that clear, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

From your photo, I'm not sure how to rig this up.  Making your own mounting adapter isn't very hard, but with the collar around the focuser shaft on the stock focuser, I'm not sure you can attach a coupler directly to it -- the collar gets in the way.  The design of the collar on the Feathertouch focuser is different, which is why their mounting adapter can work with it.

Sorry I can't be of more help.  You may be on your own on this one...! :(

Thanks for the quick response I think you're right about this. But what rasa 8s have the feather touch? I thought it was only the 11s and up.

The EAF is a great focus motor but it is really designed, as far as I can tell, to attach to a focuser on a refractor. Not the typical SCT focuser that moves the mirror.

If you figure this out, please post again as I would love to use an EAF on my SCT. I am sure if could be done with some sort of custom bracket.

I think it's really lousy that I was led to believe that this device and bracket will work with my scope, only to realize that I need to pay another $345 and have to change out my focuser to use it.

Someone on the RASA Facebook group designed a 3D Printed adapter for the RASA 8.  It seems to work great, so there is hope yet!

Here is the post talking about it with photos and video.

Hi all

I have the same problem. Have heard that Pegasus makes a bracket that should fit but not a 100% sure.
Not sure why ZWO does not make their own bracket.

I had the same answer from ZWO, but it is a mistake and that bracket only installs if you have the Feather Touch focuser installed.

If anyone has installed the Pegasus bracket with success please reply.
