I picked up a grouping of eyepieces on EBay some time ago; the price for 5 eyepieces was $250 more or less, but included pristine examples of a 16mm Galoc, an Edmund 28 mm and one with an approximately 8mm focal length.  Seeing I had mistakenly sold my Galoc and not think of the regret I would experience soon after!  The eyepieces came in a box of rock maple that had been made by a well-known furniture outfit.

Later, I found out that the previous owner was a monk who used these with a 5" refractor made by some fellow named Clark or something. rofl2.gif   So I not only had the eyepieces, but a provenance!

The 8mm eyepiece still puzzles me.  Even at f/6, it has a 60* apparent field and very decent star images at the edge of the field.   A Kellner eyepiece wouldn't have such a field nor an Erfle or a Koenig have that imagery.

I'm really stumped.  My hands are so useless that I cannot disassemble the eyepiece.

Any ideas?

Might I ask what scope and focal length your using it in?

Good to see you still kicking around the forums

Sorry but I can't take any pictures at the moment.  The eyepiece is definitely not a Bertele.
