This is a stability test performed by my friend Teacher Black (Kaleidoscope in CN, he's a financial giant crocodile and a true billionaire.)

He bought both WX models (a third 10x50 is on its way) and both adapters to make this test possible.

The new one moves forward and reinforces the center column resulting in better stability.

You can see the diffrence even without looking through the glasses, so make sure you buy the new adapter.

.....so make sure you buy the new adapter.

.....

Sounds almost like you are making money if we do.

Are you advertising here? If yes, shouldn‘t you do that in the Vendor subforum?

It’s the TRA-5 adapter? It’s a new one?

I suppose having an option of adaptors is as good a reason as any to purchase two of each of the WX models, as comparing side by side must be easier than having to go to the trouble of unattaching and re-attaching one at a time! lol.gif

yes-always better to buy multiples of same optics so you can see which one you like best,

keep the discards in storage in case you need parts later.    waytogo.gif

I did not know you could still buy the WXs-Thought they were sold out

If I bought the old one (even if the new one wasn't available) I'd be returning it.......Garbage IMO and useless as well!

Did a search, and not surprisingly, they’re still available and in stock.  Optics4birding is one place.

It seems Nikon has stopped making 750 model. 1050 can still be ordered on Nikon direct website.

If you put wx on a mount with handle then it’s very stable even with the old adapter.

So my friend, the trillionaire Howard Gao who is the owner of Wx 1050 serial number 001, makes it all clear.

And my friend Laoye Bei, the automobile industry tycoon, makes exellent use of his otherwise redundant old adapter.

It's amazing the original Nikon adapter is so shaky in comparison to the improved model.  Looks like it was an afterthought after all the effort that went into the binoculars.   For the investment involved, Nikon should send all WX buyers a replacement in trade for the poorly engineered original.   blush.gif

I fully agree, the original one is a **** in a big bowl of nice soup.

It's very welcomed that Nikon made the update, but it's even better if they recall their ****.

Maybe I am the only one here (and I don’t have a billionaire friend, unfortunately), but my WXs so far have been handling just great with the original adapters.

I found it more important to use a good and sturdy mount and tripod so that panning and vertical movements are really smooth, then the WXs are a real joy.

No-an interesting experiment by Nikon,

maybe leading to a new standard in optics,

maybe just a failed gamble

but is not that how we get new concepts ?

Yes, but even without any new concepts It's a failure IMO.  For me, something has to work at least reasonably well to be worthwhile.

Well, 19,800 ¥ (if I read correctly the link posted by Tamiji) for a piece of plastic seems even to me, that I spent a fortune for the binocular, a really crazy price. I will keep the old adapter for sure.

Even if it’s titanium I think it’s too much...

You're right about the price.  It should be free for all registered WX owners.

It's seems unusual? that no one else mentioned the problem prior to this. hmm.gif
