Clyde Bone’s Tele Vue-140 Re-Built!

Yes, that scope on our latest blog post *is* a Tele Vue: it’s a 700mm, f/5, “TeleVue-140″ scope that debuted in 1996 and

incorporated our patented 4-element Nagler-Petzval layout in a 5.5”-class Rich Field refractor. To this day the Tele Vue-140

series is the largest diameter, fastest focal ratio, Nagler-Petzval refractor ever made by Tele Vue Optics, Inc. In this week’s

blog we follow our tech as he does a complete rebuilt of this rare Tele Vue scope. We learn about the timeless features of

this 24-year old Nagler-Petzval classic and also how it differs from our modern scopes.

This telescope is now for sale here:

and here:

For the collector, I think this would be an interesting piece.  For the visual observer, I think a TEC140ED would be a better telescope.

Any chance that TeleVue will be making a new 140+mm f/5 flat field apochromat?
