Wow that's fantastic, looks just like mine. I'm very excited for the planets later in the year. bounce.gif

There is a thing that should be mentioned. Seeing conditions is the equalizer. The system is only as good as the sky conditions. :-(

So here in Maine that means I've got about six days a year. bangbang.gif The only place worse would be the Pacific Northwest. LoL

It's usually only good after a bad storm blows though and then followed up by a high pressure front.

Then, that's your golden ticket. Seeing is incredible when high pressure zones roll in.

I used to image with a Dobsonian. That drove me to drink.bangbang.gif  Now I just drink while imaging out of habit.lol.gif

Looks very similar to my setup (except without the beer and the diagonal). As mentioned in another thread, ever since I read this article I've made every effort I could to image without one. A diagonal that is, beer is always an option lol.gif .

Do you think my pictures are that bad with the diagonal? I just noticed, you have the 8" Evolution tripod. Not the heavier one that comes with the 9.25.

No, not at all, your images are great, just pointing out the differences. And yes, I have the lightweight tripod that comes with the 6"/8", as I upgraded the OTA from that.

Doesn't seem to have affected the stability (I think).

Well thanks to all of you for confirming what I was hoping to do. I didn't get a chance to shoot Venus but the moon was in a perfect position for some imaging. I had the 2X Powermate attached to the front of the ASI174 monochrome camera with a ProPlanet 642 IR pass filter. No diagonal, attached right to the Baader click lock.

I see that Venus and Uranus are in conjunction this week and will try and image them as long as the clouds and wind stay away. The Evo mount has a lot of movement with anything but perfectly still conditions at ground level.

Thanks again,
