Ngc 2736 is a nebula in Vela aka the Pencil nebula; size:20'x2' ; after many years of trying to get a good view of this elusive target , I finally succeeded this past weekend, 2/21/2020, the reason for it being elusive is because it doesn't get very high in my sky, at it's transit, probably 20 degrees or so. So I've had to wait for exceptional seeing at its transit, really tough. It is the brightest patch in the Vela supernova remnant massive area known as the Gum nebula. It is an extraordinary long ray of light. It is also known as Herschel's ray after it's discoverer.I used a Lumicon OIII filter with a 21mm Ethos at 75x with a 14.5 Starstructure Dob f/4.3

Excellent sketch of this fine galaxy so close to the horizon.

Cool sketch and observation! I saw this one as a straight line (with 10" scope), but you caught some of the V-shape of the supernova remnant as well.

very good observation by NGC 2736 with only 20° altitude.
I saw and sketched it at serveral times in South Africa and Namibia
NGC 2736 is an emission nebulae .
