I think I may know what's going on here, but want to ask anyway.

I have a 9.25 SCT mounted with a Stellarvue 50mm finder (14 oz)... and a telrad.

Both are offset to my left at back of OTA.

On one side of the mount, the OTA is nose heavy; on the other side (180 degrees) it is tail heavy.

No balance issue in RA.

The mount tracks ok, but I wonder if this is placing unnecessary strain on the dec motor as it slews?

My best guess is the imbalance of the offset finder & Telrad.

Wonder if anyone else has experienced this and what the remedy might be? Equal weight opposed to the right side of OTA?

Can't the finder be moved to center of OTA?

Not w/o some modification. No mounting holes in that position.

It would also interfere with the main EP as my head would be touching it.

Answered my own question.

Removed the finder and dec balance is right on.

Now to find some way to attach some opposite counter weight.
