Hi All,

I am looking into upgrading  from an LX850 Meade mount system with  a 14 inch Meade SCT to   the AP 1100 GTO mount to use with the SCT. I am looking to use the Meade Giant Field Tripod I already have with it if possible. Anyone out there  have this  set up or know the connector parts  that could  work perhaps? Looking to not have to  have the tripod machined if possible as I am not sure where I could get that done in the bay area, CA..

Thank you all!

David

Call Astro-Physics and ask.  They have a number of pier adapters available.  They would probably know if any of them fit the Meade Giant Field Tripod or not.

I would go to the Advanced Telescope Systems website.  I am sure they have (or can make) the adapter you will need to meld the AP 1100 GTO mount to the Meade Giant Field Tripod.

Here is the website:  https://www.advanced...e.com/index.php

Thank you for the help! Will try both routes!

David,

You will need two adapters. You need first Meade to Losmandy MA (SKU: LOS-MA), and then Losmandy to AP1100 (LT2APM).

Actually you should be able to drill and tap the top of the tripod (if needed) for the 119FSA  adapter or go all the way with 119FSA-FP which includes the flattop pier adapter.

Exactly! I’ve done this twice: one for a 900GTO and then my current 1100GTO. The 119FSA fits right on top of the top of the tripod and the you can easily punch mark for drilling and tapping the holes to secure it.
Use their diagram for planning your drilling pattern: https://www.astro-ph...a-schematic.pdf

Thanks all, actually went with ATS. They are going to make a custom adapter plate for me  with the 119FSA-FP on the top and a 1/2 inch threaded  hole in the middle of the  3/4 thick round plate to attach it the same way I do now with  my LX850 mount..  This makes for a bit quicker set up and tear down for me..
