You can phone Tele Vue in the morning and they'll sell you a cap or two. Uncle Al may even chit chat awhile.

He's probably asking because the one it comes with doesn't fit right. Seems to be an ongoing thing with TeleVue. I know for a fact that every one of the caps that go on the barrels of the Delites are far too tight. I am also not a big fan of those top caps that have that top round layer....lol

Or he lost his, lol.

You can either call Tele Vue for a replacement or order a non-Tele Vue cap from Agena Astro or Scope Stuff.

Some T6 cups are odd fitting. If you have more than one T6 you can shuffle them around.

Odd. TV has IMHO the best EPs, but their eyecups on all models are...strange.

TeleVue was selling spare caps at their blem table at NEAF last year. I picked out a few

and got lucky that most of them were perfect fits.

Heck the caps on my TV 13, 16, and 7mm Naglers don’t fit, and the ones on my Panoptic 24s don’t fit.  All of them are too small.

Tele Vue's 2-side eyepiece caps are not good fitting eyepiece caps, to be honest.

They have new caps being installed on the Delites, Delos, etc. as time goes on (which may be available directly from Tele Vue)

that are one-sided caps that are perfectly cylindrical internally and fit quite well and don't come off.

I know the issue you have with the cap on your 16 Nagler or Panoptic 24. I had that issue, too, but I have stored them in my eyepiece case for many years now, and I guess the constant pressure

of the foam against the caps has made the rubber mold itself to the inside of the plastic cap.  The caps no longer come off easily, and the cap on the 24 Pan fits tightly enough that

removing it pops the rubber eyecup into the UP position.

Next problem to solve is the black bottom caps on the Delites, which take several seconds of inching them off to get them off, even with a needled air hole in the bottoms.

I finally gave up and got some clear ones that fit great.

These fit the Ethos well:

1.25":

Measure the tops of the eyepieces the caps fall off of, and I bet they have one that fits.

Most of the top caps on ES eyepieces fall off after a while, too.

I can see why Manish sells so many caps.

If you think the top cap on a Nagler is bad... try to keep the top cap on a Pentax XW!

I like the XW caps much better than the XL caps...

Cap on 17 Delos - too big.

Panoptic 24 - too big.

T6s - hit and miss.

One Delite cap -good.

Another Delite cap (two sided, I bought second hand) - aaargh.

Amen to that!  waytogo.gif

I finally got tired of ripping off fingernails and bought a bunch of the ubiquitous "317" clear caps.  The first thing I do when I get a 1.25" Tele Vue eyepiece is inch that bottom cap off, throw it in the box, and replace it with one of those clear caps.  My fingernails have been much happier since I started doing that many years ago.

If you buy a TV eyepiece from me, you will get the original cap and you can deal with it as you wish.  I keep the "good stuff" for myself. <LOL>

Cheers,

Ron

Haha, I thought I was the only one who got clear bottom replacements...

Inching black ones off always resulted in moving eyecup position somehow on both Delites and Delos.

Do you have a link to your source for 317 caps, I also hoard them and put them on my best eyepieces...

No, I bought a bunch of them at NEAF ten years ago and have been using them ever since.

For consistency, I even swapped out the bottom caps on my Pentax XW eyepieces, even though they are not nearly as bad as the TV bottom caps.  This way, it doesn't matter if I get a cap or two mixed up after a session.

If anyone knows where we can find more, please share...……

Ron
