Dear all,

I have a 2019 Questar 3.5". It comes with the Questar 1.25" eyepiece adapter. Unfortunately, my DeLites do not sit properly in this adapter.

Not sitting properly means that the 1.25" barrel of the eyepieces is longer than the bore on the adapter. Since TV eyepieces have undercuts, when the tightening screws are tightened, the eyepieces stay at an angle.

I wonder if the bore in the 1.25" televue adapter is deeper, so that it avoids this problem.

Can anyone check this?

Thanks.

Just checked. In televue's spec sheet, Delites have a barrel 1.1" in length, while a 19 PAN is 0.90" by comparison.

A call to TeleVue could give you some good answers. They know all the elements involved in this equation well: the Questar 3.5, the TeleVue 1.25" adapter and the TeleVue eyepieces.

I do remember a thread we had on the Questar forum about the differences between those 2 adapters. I will have a look and post a link if I can find it.

And another one here about is it worth getting a TeleVue Questar adapter?

You will find quite a bit of user experience in the three threads mentioned above to better understand the differences between the Questar and TeleVue eyepiece adapters. If you still need more help, a phonecall to either or both Questar and TeleVue should do.

I tried a TV adapter but returned it because it wasn't threaded for my Questar Brandons and instead got the slightly more expensive Questar adapter. The TV adapter seemed no deeper that the Questar slip-fit adapter which is far more versatile because it had both Brandon threads and a pair of Delrin securing screws for non-threaded 1.25'' EPs. Unfortunately I didn't have both to compare side by side but if there was a difference, I think it's minimal.

I use my Delites with Q adapter and it stayed at a very minimal angel. No problem in observing, practically speaking

If you’re looking for the TeleVue version, there’s one available right here for 40 bucks.

Peter also has a nice Questar camera adapter plus a couple of adapter rings for sale in the same ad. Those are pretty hard to find and Peter is known to be negotiable, plus he’s a good guy. I’ve know him personally for several years. waytogo.gif waytogo.gif

My apologies, I didn’t notice. I was focused on the cool camera adapter!
