After a long period of rain and fierce winds, I finally had a small window of opportunity yesterday to sketch M47 (an open cluster in Puppis) from my garden. It wasn't the best view I ever had of it because of the low altitude and the lack of a truly dark sky. But a lot of stars were seen, scattered through the field of view, with a big difference in magnitude among them. A striking double star (evenly bright and easily separated) can be seen near the center and another star nearby definitely shows a yellow/orange hue.

Martijn, you're stars are nice. That's a nice looking cluster, too. I am sure you did it justice.

Martijn,

I always enjoy your sketches, it looks so much like a view through my Dob, on a clear night.
