Hi All,

Far from the Milky Way, the Lion is undoubtedly part of the kingdom of galaxies.

Of course there are the M65, 66, 95, 96, NGC 2603, 3628, and so on, but Lion has 11 Hickson groups, which I understand is the largest number of all constellations. Cherry on the cake, among these, HCG 44 and 57 are among the most beautiful; but some as HGC 54 are as dense, weak, and compact as a Shakhbazian one.

Today I propose seven of them, all at the T635 mm. The brightest have their galaxies around magnitude 11, the more timid go up to m18v for the weakest ones.

Good heavens to all

Bertrand

Wonderful. HCG44 is my current imaging project. Interestingly your sketches look almost exactly like the 10 second subs I take, in terms of depth.

You are quite precise in your placement of field stars.  I am envious of your accuracy.  Were you able to see any details in any of the galaxies while observing them?  Obviously everything looks bright and colorful in the photos, but I'm curious to know if you caught glimpses of spiral arms in any of the bright galaxies.

Brilliant post! It all comes together here; you have the scope, you have the sky, you have the eye and last but not least you have the skill to transfer your view to a computer screen. Job well done, sir.

Regards, Martijn
