It's not so frequent during this calm sun period.  Yesterday I observed this little group with Wolf number : 12, today my estimation is 16.

Position 37° South, so more than probably a new cycle group

Clear sky to you all

I saw this group through thin clouds. Not as detailed as Michel, but this is the firs new group for me.

Nice sketch of the new AR, Michel!  It is indeed part of new Solar cycle 25, according to reports.  I got lucky with a clear day here yesterday and made this full disk sketch in H alpha.  I can double stack my PST now and it makes for better contrast of the solar "surface" and active regions.  Those two small dots below and to the right of AR 2758 must be tiny filaments--I've never seen them look like that, though.

I did the sketch with soft pastel pencils and conte' crayon on Canson textured paper (the reverse side).  Inspration fron Achim.  flowerred.gif

Thank you to you all and what a good job Michael.

It's not always easy to find such small spots in Ha.

Well done!

Today the wind was too bad for decent cooperation, I was just able to see one single spot.

Michel

Thank you, Michel and Tom--and thanks for all the likes, everyone.  smile.gif

Hopefully the weather will settle out for us all and we can get a look at the heavens a little more regularly.
