Earlier this day at 6:30 a.m. I got up early (not only curfew, but also vacation) to observe the planets with the "little" one. I was able to see Jupiter and Mars. For Saturn it already was too late and the background sky was too bright.
Oh before you ask:the cord is to hold the window in a position for me to observe from the apartment

Great for planetary or double's. Binotron with de-cloaked Delite's.
Thats right, only de-cloaked Delite's works for me comfortabely!

While I could probably figure it out, how do you safely de-cloak a DeLite? I have a pair of 13mm, but my IPD can barely accommodate them. That’s the only thing keeping me from buying a second 18.2mm.

Thanks Denis, I figured it would be simple.

Some real nice binoviewers here! I'm just starting out binoviewing.
I bought the original Baader Maxbright with the 1.7x Newton Coma & Glasspath Corrector with Panoptic 19's.
I love the views so far!
As is visible from the different shade of 'Televue green' in the eyepieces, they are from different era's.
The color of the coating is different too. The older (paler green) sample has a greenish coating, the newer one a yellowish coating.

Very nice!
About diff colours of coatings: production era its not only case of coatings difference, you will see diff colour coatings of same eyepieces from same run as well most of the times as well, in all manufacturers!
Best,
Denis

Thanks Denis. I can assume that any difference from an identical batch is more subtle though? Like more of a difference in tint?
Mine are very obviously differently colored.

So simple, in fact, that I ordered a second 18.2mm DeLite.

There is definetly no rule!

Love my latest bio set up. An AT72ll with twilight 1 mount, denk binos with a pair of Morpheus 17's
How much balancing weight do you have on the front end?

I have those Baader correctors, one for refractor, one for Dobson. However they have too much "infocus" even with binoviewer. What telescope do you use your set up with?
Posted 25 March 2020 - 05:24 PM
I've designed my telescope such that I can move the primary upward by 3 or 6cm so I'll have no problem with backfocus and I still have generous fully illuminated field.
Right now I've only used it in my 6" F5 Dob since my 19.5" F5 Dob is being adjusted for front collimation (new mirrorcell).
How is binoviewing in your big 22" gun?

How is binoviewing in your big 22" gun?
When the old timers from my astro club saw me using binoviewer + Nager 6 eyepieces with my 22"/f3.3 they basically told me that I do not know what I am doing (I mean they were more polite... but I also believe they were right). So they make me buy whole new line of Ethos which, apparently, were designed for fast telescopes. Hence, I only use the binoviewer combo with the 22" early in my session, when I look at planets and globular clusters. Globulars are awesome - 3D like, Jupiter is so bright that it kills your night vision!
So I've build 4" and 7" aperture masks to solve that problem. The mask basically converts the Dob into refractor (unobstructed view). I had the Dob with 4" mask set up side by side with my 100mm Tak and there was no difference in the views. But I am getting off the subject now.

Globular clusters are my favorite objects. I realize the brightness loss for faint nebulous objects could be reduced to the equivalent of say, a 16" telescope, but I think that will still be okay given the added comfort in viewing.
An aperture mask is on my mind too.

I have a pair of Baader Hyperion Universal MKIV Zoom lens that I use with my 100mm binocular telescope.
I have read this forum with great interest and have decided to dip my toes (actually eyes) into binoviewing.
I will be using them on a Celestron CPC 9.25 Edge Deluxe telescope.
Not wishing to jump in with an expensive set just yet I have ordered from Astromania.
These come with 1.85x and 3x "specially-designed Barlow Lens" and I have several .5 reducers on hand.
I am excited to try these.
With the Shelter at home order we are under, I am getting a lot of time in my driveway under the stars with the clear nights we have been having.

Here is my binoviewing collection. In the center is my Denk Big Easy. In front of it is a Sibert power mag wheel and to its right is the Siebert Universal OCA. Starting at the bottom left and going clockwise are the following pairs of eyepieces: University Optics 12.5mm Orthoscopics, Garrett Optical 15mm and 32mm plossls. In the rear left are Hyperion 8mm eyepieces, to their right are Nagler Type I 9mms. In front of the Naglers are Meade 20mm Research Grade Erfles, while in front of the Erfles are Tak LE 7.5mms, and finally a pair of Orion Sirius 10mm plossls. The Hyperion 8mms and Nagler 9mms are too big and heavy to use often in my binoviewer. My most used pairs are the 20mm Erlfles, the 32mm Garrett plossls, and the 7.5 mm Tak LEs.

Well they arrived and I have adapted them to my CPC 925 Edge Deluxe.
I bought a cheaper set not knowing if it would be something I would use often.
Of course it has been raining everyday since their arrival.
However, I used them on a high-line pole about a quarter mile from the house.
This has serial numbers on top that I use to test the clarity of various optics and cameras.
What a difference!
Even with this set and provided eyepieces this seems much better than my best single eyepiece.
Much more relaxing and it seems I can pick out more detail of the metal.
I have yet to get out in a night sky maybe later this week if the forecast holds.

My bino kit consists of a Tele Vue binoviewer with 2x corrector. Also a Vernonscope (modded per Denis - thanks 👍) a Brandon Dakin Barlow 1.25x, Siebert 0.60 reducer.
For eyepieces I use Celestron 32mm Plossl, Baader Hyperion 10mm, 21mm and Mark IV zooms.
